Hello Finsbury Park by Penny Sarmada

Hello Finsbury Park

I tried to say goodbye

but got it horribly

wrong

I’m a bloodhound lured

back by our unwashed

scent infused into every fabric

a moth drawn to

the dusty cathedral

candle you lit whenever I was there

a cat curled by

the smudged window looking onto morning

trains rattling past

Now at the station the cold familiar

wind of Seven Sisters Road

swoops in to greet me

as I ride the

escalator

up

Effective images and dramatic conclusion.
