Community. Sunset.
I drive home from Harold’s
Cross – meet the Clanbrassil St
traffic. feel the world heating
around me as sand becomes
glass. a sun sets the colour
of a page of an often-read
paperback. trees lean from gardens.
the pavements are pollen-
soaked pink. cars pause
among people like cattle
at market: we are all going home.
a man in a contractor
company van pulls up next to me.
looks at my car and then gestures ahead
toward a space. outside a cafe
three pigeons bustle under a table
looking for breadcrumbs or tenners
and anything else going spare.
