I was going to tell you…

I saw a fox in the hospital grounds

when I was orienteering & that

the sky was very blue & fine &

I was so glad I found the hole in

the wall where the cut ivy almost

blocked the path & I loped through it

twice & then I kept running past the flats

& the man shovelling earth off the lane

& all of Saturday afternoon

the light was

so fine          like water        I never looked back.
